The wine and spirits business was first established at premises in John Street in London's West End. It was here that the fortuitous meeting of Beaumont Hankey and Hugh Bannister took place.
Hankey came from a wealthy, aristocratic family and was a familiar figure in the upper circles of London society.
Bannister was quiet, able and industrious – a shrewd businessman with a wealth of experience.
Together they created their own superior Scotch whisky: a blend that would appeal directly to the refined tastes of their clientele. They made their choice from the finest Lowland grains and Highland and Speyside malt whiskies to perfect the smooth, well-balanced blend.
Word soon spread beyond London’s salons and the superior qualities of Hankey Bannister’s original blend became widely known and appreciated. Over the years it was enjoyed by Churchill, Edward VII, George V and George VI, receiving a Royal Warrant from all.
Today Hankey Bannister Blended Scotch Whisky rightly enjoys a popularity far beyond London society.
Hankey Bannister is the story of what can happen when two remarkable men share an idea and follow it through with conviction and passion.
